The book, “The Outsiders” by S.E. Hinton, tells about a gang made of 6 greasers. Greasers are a bunch of lower class teenagers in the city downtown. Ponyboy was the main character who belonged to a gang. At the age of 14, he was the smallest, weakest, and also the smartest in his gang. The gang consists of Dally, Sodapop, Johnny, Two-Bit, and also Darry. Ponyboy lost his parents 6 months ago and is now living with his brothers Sodapop and Darry. Ponyboy and Johnny always got picked on by the socs, or the socials. The socs were the rich kids and they usually got drunk and picked fights with the greasers. Ponyboy got out, but Johnny got stuck and Dally had to go in the fire to get him out. They went to the hospital on ambulances, and while Ponyboy was okay with just a little burn on his back, Johnny had a 3rd-degree burn and broke his back because the roof collapsed on him. Dally just had some burned skin and need to stay in the hospital for a while. Darry and Sodapop rushed into the room and hugged Ponyboy and said they were sorry. The doctor said Johnny was gonna die soon, and the whole gang got quiet. The rumble was coming soon, and the rumble was when the greasers fight the socs. Ponyboy was very excited because he did very well in the rumble, even though he got a slight concussion and is acting weird now. Right after the rumble, they went to the hospital to visit Johnny, only to witness his death. As Dally witnessed this, he went to rob a grocery store, causing the police to chase him. He finally raises his gun with no ammo and the police shot him. Dally successfully suicided because his buddy Johnny died, and Ponyboy lived in pain for some time after
