I read In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I chose to read this book because it really stood out to me with the fact that it is a true story. I researched Capote and the book beforehand, to make sure it was the book i wanted to read. And i found that this case that Capote dedicated years of his life to study was very interesting. Everything from the fact that the Clutter family seemed to be perfect in others’ eyes, to why someone could end another’s life so brutally. Capote throughout the book really analyzes the killers of the Clutter family, even sympathizing them. The way that the whole Clutter family was brutally murdered out of the blue when they seemingly had no enemies was very captivating to Capote. His meticulous research and attention to detail are evident throughout the book. He spent years investigating the case, interviewing witnesses, and even communicating with the killers, Perry Smith and Richard "Dick" Hickock, while they were on death row. This dedication to having complete accuracy is what makes In Cold Blood a a masterpiece within the true crime genre.
