Books are banned for various reasons including religious views, racial themes, alternative lifestyles, profanity, sex, violence, negativity, witchcraft, and political views. Banned books even include holy books, like The Bible or The Quran. Even children’s books have been banned; like Green Eggs and Ham by Doctor Suess. Some studies show that making a chapter, or even an entire book challenged is a much more effective way to get kids to read it, rather than making it homework. Even though people challenge books, we do have the right to read what we want.

Anytown School Board, 11,300 books have been put in question for possible removal since 1982. The School Board is trying to make it so that the book Fahrenheit 451 is not a part of any school curriculum or read on campus by students. While parents do have the right to decide whether or not reading material is appropriate for their children, it should be a choice that affects their child only, not the entire population of students. I feel the banishment of the novel Fahrenheit 451 is unjust and is explicit censorship. An important reason we shouldn’t allow books to be censored in school libraries is that it’s taking away student’s right to read books of their choosing.
So why not let them better prepare themselves by reading a more challenging and mature book. Therefore, I believe that school board members should not ban books from the school library because, students can get more of a challenge from certain books, you also can get many life lessons from a more mature book, and students also get more of a choice which means more books to read. So I think it is completely wrong to ban books from the school

Banning books is against the writers right for freedom of speech, which is the first amendment. Students have the right to read, reading is not illegal, so why ban books? If a reader is mature enough to handle some curse words or bad behavior then they should be able to read banned books. Some people believe books should not be banned in schools/libraries but just because you do not like it does not mean it should be taken away, that is the authors freedom of speech.
Although many students may not agree with the banning of books some students do think that some high school books don’t belong in a high school library. Shequoya Jones said “ I don’t think that all books belong in school libraries because some of the books have explicit language and material that some readers are not ready for. Also, you can attain the same books in the public library if you really want them”. This demonstrates students are not always prepared for the content inside the books, even when reading the back of the book. Andre Jones said “Even when reading the back of the book it doesn’t give me the specifics of the explicitness of book”.
Books, Should We Ban Them Or Not: Banned books are books that have been taken out of public environments because of many different reasons. Books should not be banned simply because we have the rights to any books. Banned Books can teach important things about our history. Books that have been banned teach great morals/lesson even with the negative content. Banning Books infringes on people 's personal rights.
If kids are not exposed to this material than they might not truly understand big pieces of history. If books were banned we would have less options to read and our education wouldn 't be as strong. In conclusion, books should not be banned. If books were banned then our education world lesson and our knowledge would be much slimmer.
At one point in time, over 7,220 books have been challenged to be banned. Though these books have been removed for the safety of children, not all books should be banned for many reasons. These include the fact that banning books is infringing on the First Amendment, keeping children from understanding the real world, and, even though there are many reasons for book banning, not banning books could help a student’s education and can even work against itself. Banning a book from a school or public library could go against a person’s First Amendment of the freedom of press.
