Waka Flocka Flame (Jauquin James Malphurs) is a good presidential candidate to vote for. During his early life up until age nine he lived in Jamaica Queens, New York. He and his family then moved to a town called Riverdale near Atlanta, Georgia. His family wasn’t exactly “wealthy” but now that he has made a career for himself he has a lot of money. Chapter 10 is about the Folk Psychotherapy of Alcoholics Anonymous ( AA) by L A. Alibrandi. The focus of the Chapter is “detailed examination of the relationship between the sponsor and the new comer. A.A. sponsors help others to achieve and maintain sobriety. I like the statement of an AA member “Drunks get sober every morning, or every time they go to jail or a hospital, but in A.A we learn how to stay sober.” (Zimberg, S, et al pg. 165).
Hip-Hop When one hears the word, “hip-hop”, images of money, drugs, violence, and provocative dancing instantly arise. Once someone hears the loud hip-hop music blasting out of a teenager’s room, they immediately criticize them for listening to what they call “nonsense”. Despite some people’s inherent distaste of hip-hop, this genre of music is actually sending an incredibly enriching and influential message. In “Hip-Hop and Shakespeare”, a TED talk, Akala, the speaker, argues that hip-hop motivates people to be intelligent and successful.
Factors that may be characterized as risky are found in the individual, the environment, or the individual’s response ability to demands or requirements of the environment, In “The Ghetto Made Me Do It” by Francis Flaherty, Flaherty writes about the influence of growing up in the Ghetto , and it (the Ghetto) influences the behavior by the people who have been influenced by that environment. An example of the influence would be when Flaherty writes, “ “If nothing else, Lisa Morgan’s childhood in a poor, inner-city Milwaukee neighborhood starkly illustrates the tragic effects of omnipresent urban violence. “Mom shot dad,” Shellow says. “And Mom shot boyfriend…. [Lisa’s] uncle, who was actually her age, was murdered.
In this essay, Hip Hop Stole My Black Boy by Kiese Laymon, is a story about two boys whose dreams was to become a hip hop artist. Even though their parents did not like the idea. Laymon, says that "But as hip hop moved from the boroughs to Compton in late 80's and early 90's, daring west coast soldiers, west coast sensibilities and west of us rappers seemed more in line with our reality" (Laymon 226). I think he was referring to the two boys, because they did not like the idea of living their home town and go to another city at first, but when they move from one city to another they did enjoy it after all. The word "Cipher" was mentioned several times in this essay.
The Swedish documentary, Black Mixtape, traces race relations in the United States from 1967-1975. The captivating documentary includes appearances by popular African American figures like Civil Rights activist Stokely Carmichael, Black Panther Party founders Bobby Seale and Huey P. Newton and Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan. The purpose of the documentary is to show America in a different viewpoint than how it is portrayed internationally. Due to the Swedish dialect throughout the film, it is evident that there isn’t a specified audience. Black Americans have struggled to obtain equality and justice in this country for decades.
The film Boyz N the Hood is a story about life in South Central Los Angeles. The film was wrote and directed by John Singleton in 1991. I chose this movie because of its relevance to the course and how it reflects pop culture in that time period. The opening line in the movie “one out of every twenty-one Black American males will be murdered in their lifetime” really catches the audience attention (Nicolaides & Singleton, 1991). This movie goes into detail and shows the life of three young males living in the hood of Los Angeles battling a life surrounded by drugs, violence, and questions of race.

Dope is about a high school boy name Malcom and his friends who loved 90s hip-hop culture. The idea of this movie was to describe Black culture in two ways, student A or Student B. As the movie progressed into its twisted plot you realize sometimes it is possible to be both Student A and B. If you put your mind to it. For example, the term Slippery-Slope was used in this film as,
