The Boycott, Divest, and Sanction (BDS) Movement has been widely popular across campuses in the United States, but the campaign reflects a larger international movement to help change the conditions of occupation and colonization in Palestine. Started in 2005 to create pressure on Israeli governments to decolonize Palestinian land and give Palestinians full citizen rights, the movement has gained significant support from churches, institutions, and governments. While the campaign has been successful, it is not unflawed. Its crippling mistake is that it does not fully endorse a two-state solution. The war was extremely bloody, and thousands of people died. The Israelis won soundly; at the end 1,000 Syrians, 6,000 Jordanians, and 11,000 Egyptians were killed compared to the 700 Israelis . As the result of the battle, Israel was able to gain control of the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, the Sinai Peninsula, and the Golan Heights. Another 500,000 Palestinians in these areas were forced from their homes . Since 1967, the Palestinians have been continuously forced from their homes and concentrated into increasingly smaller pieces of land. The Israelis continue to demolish their homes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and build their own settlements. They have created a 709 kilometer wall that separates the two territories but also veers into Palestinian land . Despite the peace agreements, the wall takes about 15% of Palestine and locks Palestinians in the remaining land . Along the wall, there are checkpoints manned by mostly privatized security guards and some Israeli border agents, including twelve checkpoints in the West Bank and two along the Gaza Border . Here, they can control which Palestinians can come in and out. This wall also allows Israel to control what imports and exports Palestine is allowed to have. Additionally, Israel continues to develop on Palestinian land. In 2009, there were around 494,000 Israel settlers in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and these numbers continue to grow . The Israelis also continue to create businesses in this area, reflecting their vast industrialization in Israel
