Brain Injuries Depicted In Chris Benoit's Film

Chris Benoit is a former WWE wrestler that committed a double-murder on his Wife Nancy Benoit and his 7-year-old son Daniel. The reason why I decided to write about this documentary is that the WWE and the doctors don’t do enough studies on their wrestlers nor do they give them enough time to recover from their injuries. Which is why Chris Beniot ended up doing what he did. The WWE doesn’t acknowledge beniot’s existence anymore or likes to take any responsibility for his death. The documentary shows that the WWE had known Benoit’s brain injuries were severe and that he got 4 concussions in 3 years while working for the WWE. In the documentary, they further explain what Benoit’s brain was like and how the effects of working in the ring caused …show more content…

This contributed to the brain damage he had. Nowadays the WWE or any other wrestling business has banned any usage of headbutts that directly impact both of the wrestler's heads. They instead try to connect the impact to the shoulder to make it seem like they connected to the head according to the documentary. WWE has banned multiple moves that end up impacting the head such as The Canadian Destroyer, Piledriver, and The Punt Kick. All the moves that were banned have two things in common. Firstly, the point of those finishers is to impact the opponent's head. Second, they all caused a concussion or a head injury to a wrestler after the move. The people realized it too late. The damage to the head and brain already happen. Although they’re doing a great effort trying to prevent them, so many people died or careers ended due to the damages the moves caused. The WWE had not done enough for these wrestlers to prevent the injuries they got. It had to take Benoit to take his life and his family for them to do something about head injuries, which was the main cause of what made Benoit do what he …show more content…

The summary I’d like to conclude is the fact that WWE didn’t want to take any responsibility for what Benoit did. I understand that on the night of the murder, 3 people died that night and only 1 person had the choice behind it, but they could have prevented his injuries and his brain got this bad. If only they let him recover when he should’ve had. If only they gave him the right care for him. If only they made him stop wrestling earlier. After the 2nd concussion, the WWE should have stepped in and made him retire or offer him a different type of role within the WWE like they did with different wrestlers that had to retire due to different injuries. Chris Benoit will forever go down in the memories of people of the wrestler that murdered his family due to wrestling. I asked people in my family if they knew the name “ Chris Benoit “ all the time. They all say the same thing. “ The wrestler who killed his family because he had a messed up brain”. Although the WWE views him as just a murderer. Yes, he is one but the story is so much deeper than that. The background of it is something truly dark and heartbreaking. The documentary provides amazon details covering what was going on with Beniot before what he did. His behavior, actions, and his head
