In the book Drown by Junot Diaz, there was a father that really never settled. Ramon was portrayed as the father figure in the book and it shocked me how he left his family in San Diego, and went to the United States to earn some more money but also did something bad. It 's hard to see when a father with kids cheats on his wife, lies to his father in law in order to secure money and comes to the United states to make more money. It is understandable that when you travel to get a better job and do that in order support a family you would come back to the family and share the earnings. It is cruel what Ramon did because as he arrived to New York and started working but also found someone to have an affair with and forgot about the committed marriage
"The Color Of Water" is a memoir, written by James McBride about a biracial man, his white Jewish mother, their family, and their struggle from the early 1900s till the mid 1900s. The main characters in the memoir are the author and his mother; they tell their stories and alternate chapters throughout the memoir. the memoir begins with the author's mother explaining her earliest memories of her parents, the details of their marriage, and their coming to America. James's life was a chaotic mess, the only order in his life came from his stepfather, who was named hunter, Hunter was a strong good natured man who was the only father figure James had ever known.

Although we can't control what irrational situations we are placed in, we do have a say in how we react and feel towards those situations. In the novel “The Color of Water” written by James McBride the tone of the passage in chapter four is most definitely anxious. The reason being that the word anxious can mean many things and in this case it does. James is anxious in an excited way because his people finally have a voice and they are realizing that they have rights and that they should be treated no different than non-blacks.

She then gets a retraining order because she fears for her safety. The chapter ends with a journal entry from Nick about when he first wanted to date Caitlin McCourt. From this entry, his character is very prominent and it's obvious the type of person he is. The themes shown in this chapter are abuse and survival and there are many examples of them throughout these few pages.

It is also a good representation of Rose Mary and Rex’s parenting skills insteading of coddling their children they present them with challenging them, some even life threatening, that the children are faced with. Jeannette Walls’ shows very little personal reflection in The Glass Castle though she does show a lot of detail in events, written like a piece of journalism.
Gender is it a concept or is it made apparent by our DNA when you are born or does it change as you grow older? Often gender is something that society defines at birth. According to society certain gender roles are pre established when we are born. The majority of society believes that if you are born to a specific gender you should adhere to the gender roles while other people believe that instead we may be born to a gender but it does not always decide if you are that gender. Science has proven that just because you are born a male or female does not mean that you mentally see yourself as that gender.
