Bree Wolf is a USA Today bestselling and award-winning author. Bree Wolf writes romance novels and in these novels, she develops the story in her own style by using different literary techniques. Wolf mainly uses elements of plot, figurative language, and imagery to develop her various stories.
Bree Wolf does a magnificent job developing the element of the plot in her stories. This is shown in her various works of literature. In her novel Once Upon a Devastatingly Sweet Kiss Harriet, the main character, is determined to not get married but she starts to develop feelings for Jack. They both try to ignore their feelings for eachother because Jack is trying to respect Harriet’s wish not never wed. This is a similar case in her novel Once Upon an Accidentally Bewitching Kiss at the climax of the story both of the characters are trying to ignore their feelings for eachother and act like nothing has happened between them. Wolf uses similar aspects of the stories to develop them, but she uses completely unique characters and the stories feel completely different even with their similarities. The figurative language can change the mood from happy and light to gloomy. Wolf uses similes, metaphors, hyperboles, and the occasional onomatopoeia in her writing. In her novel Once Upon a Devastatingly Sweet Kiss she states “It was as though he were a hunter and she the prey and there was nothing she could do to escape him.”(Wolf, pg 221) In the same novel she states “Their eyes met, and she should feel his challenge like a tug as though he tried to pull her in one direction,...”(Wolf, pg 222) These pieces of figurative language add to the text and Wolf’s style of writing because they really emphasis how the characters are feeling in that moment.
