Chapter 2 : A true desire..
For you and I the worst thing in life would be to end up all alone, but imagine if the worst thing in life was to end up with people that make you feel alone. Nothing but an outsider to this world..
While reading this book, you would have come across Christopher’s wish to be alone on the planet, this may not hold much significance in your reading, but this chapter will take you into the hidden meaning of christopher’s wish.
Christopher enjoys spending time with himself. Alone, in his room, mostly reading, practicing math or wishing to be all alone on the planet. This wish of his is a reason he also states that he would love to be an astronaut since it would mean that he would be all alone in space with no one to disturb him, he also says that he imagines himself in space by lying down in the lawn with his eyes closed. …show more content…

In chapter 229, after reaching London post the hardships during his journey, Christopher has what he calls his ‘’favorite’’ dream. The fact that he states that this is his ‘’favorite’’ dream, implies that this is one of his deepest desires. If this dream were to come true, Christopher would be free from all social interactions which makes him uncomfortable and confused. He would also not have to face crowds which he dislikes and no one would touch him, which he also strongly dislike. This suggests that the only people left would be Christopher, himself and the others who are ‘’like’’ him, which means the people dealing with the same condition. Christopher believes that this would make him an ordinary human, one amongst the rest, rather than the outsider he currently is to the world.
