On the day of the wedding a bunch of girls gather around Hannah amazed by her. She tells them stories like Hansel and Gretel, and the Wizard of Oz. When they get to Wedding there are Nazi surrounding the church, claiming that they are just transporting them to a new village, and that their stuff is already there. Everyone is hesitant but believes them, except for Hannah who knows better. Hannah tries telling everyone
This shows that people need to do the right thing no matter how hard it is so that events in real life do not get out of hand like they did in the play and like they did in the real Salem Witch
The 1920s were filled with many fast-paced and energetic dances. First off in the novel, it says “Daisy and Gatsby danced. I remember… never seen him dance before.” (Fitzgerald 112) This is one dance shown during the 1920s; other famous dances include The Charleston and The Lindy Hop.
The film starts with a group of girls dancing in the woods, who get caught by Reverend Parris, the local minister. Parris’s daughter Betty falls into a “sickness”, which causes rumors of witchcraft to spread through the town. Parris's niece Abigail gets questioned on the events that took place in the forest. She claims that they were doing nothing more than dancing. Abigail then threatens the rest of the girls, and tells them not to speak a word of what happened that night.
A significant part of the rest of the play is loaded with the duplicitous machinations of the different individuals from the family. At different times Henry courts every child, wanting to propel his plan through untruths and control. Eleanor does likewise. Now and again it is hard to tell who needs what and what the truth is. The three sons do likewise, blending up with one another in different combinations, planning to get the assistance of the others.
Then in the movie they got to a place that looks like a sewer or the poorer part of town. There is a family who are very poor, barely enough to eat. Then the spirit takes him to the grave. In the play the part about the poor family doesn’t happen in the play. The either made up that part or completely skipped
There were several elements of the script that impacted me, but their father’s affair with Sheila is what stood out to me the most. We are able to know his thoughts and feelings throughout the play, and he spends the majority of his time thinking about Sheila rather than his wife and children. The parents do not see the impact they have on their children, who will grow up to reflect their parents in different ways. The father’s affair is not secret, but nobody in the family says it out loud either. The children know, as does their
Despite the traits that make her an amazing and complex character, her main plot line in the play is choosing between two male figures both of who do not respect her as a future doctor or as women. The people who matter the most in her life put more pressure on her to marry a man than they do to achieve Her dreams.
The short monologue gives his family yet another glimpse of his vicious past, losing hope for him to change for the better. Jack, the daughters Uncle, also shows aspects of trying to change but fails. He also loses his temper when he holds up a gun to Tom’s head while confronting him. Jack starts off in the play as a happy-go-lucky guy who is a laid back priest, but ends up letting his past take over his mental stability. Lastly is Junior, Gail’s boyfriend who starts the play off as an edgy rockstar wannabe who is trying to walk away from his parents bad decisions that rub off on him.
It shows whoever reads it why lying is a sin. A society or puritans, focused on perfection of religion, is shocked by an occurrence of witches. Witches are the Devil’s evildoers, and should be persecuted at once. Abigal, the drama queen of the play, attempts to kill the wife of the man she loves with witchcraft. They are found, but whenever Abigal and the others attending are being accused, they lie, blaming others of being witches.
Tom not only stays with his mother and sister well into adulthood but he also does not pursue a wife, a well paying job or a family of his own. Instead Tom dreams of a life that is more: a life filled with exploration, like the ones in the movies he adores. Throughout the play, Tom argues with his mother, drinks heavily and goes to the movies to forget about his problems. In this melancholy life filled with dissatisfaction he finds comfort in his sister who is shy, sweet and undeserving of the harshness life has thrown as her.
money. Mama, Walter’s mother and the head of the house, is put in the play to display family is greater than money. When the plot takes a direction change and the family receives insurance money from Mama’s dead husband, the attitude in the household shifts. Always being a family oriented woman, Mama, even with ten thousand dollars is still sad that her husband isn’t there to share the great fortune with him. This clearly displays Mama’s core values and why Lorraine Hansberry put her in the play to show these
The theme is this scene is supernatural. This theme is important in the play because without the witches there would be no story. The audiences will be uncomfortable and quite scared of her because witches can kill people. They would be immersed into the play because of the
A large factor that significantly affects the plot of the play is the scene of the girls dancing in the woods. What happened is no where near what the rumors and lies that were being spread explained. The truth was that the girls, Betty, Abigail, Mercy, Susanna, Ruth, and Mary were dancing in the woods with Tituba, who was conjuring spirits, when Reverend Parris walked up and found them Betty became frightened and fell ill. The first lie that was started was by Reverend Parris.
