Have you ever found yourself wondering why your friend’s eyes are brown and yours are blue? Yes, it does have to do with genes and what color your family’s eyes are, but it goes a lot deeper than that. In my essay I will be talking about how parents with blue eyes can have brown eyed kids, how melanin affects eye color, how eye color develops and superstitions about how eye color determines your personality. Yes, it is possible for two parents that have blue eyes to have kids with brown eyes. There are two kinds of people that have blue eyes, people with recessive traits which means even though the have blue eyes, they still have the brown eyed trait in them. A baby might be born with deep blue eyes but end up having really light grey/blue eyes for the rest of their life. This happens because as a baby’s eyes grow and stretch out, the color fades. Think of it this way, if you have a glass of water that you have dyed blue, it is very dark at first when you dye it. If you start adding more water to the cup, the water will become lighter in color. This is basically how eye color develops, slowly over time. Some people think that eye color can determine the basis of your personality. It is thought that people that have blue eyes, have creative imaginations and have big dreams. People with green eyes are thought to pay attention to detail and have sharp minds. People with hazel eyes are supposed to be passionate and caring. Also people that have brown eyes are thought to keep to themselves and be quiet but actually a have a fiery passion.
