In this novel, friendship is a major theme. In my own words, friendship is when you can stick with someone through thick and thin, there may be fights and mess-ups, but as long as there is love, trust, and they accept you for who you are, there is a friendship. There are plenty of things that make Bruno and Shmuel friends. One thing that makes Bruno and Shmuel friends is that they are there for each other. Another thing that makes Bruno a Shmuel friends is that no matter what they stick by each other, just like when Bruno stuck by Shmuel to go find his dad, and when they were going “marching”. Lastly, something that makes Bruno and Shmuel friends is that Bruno didn’t care what religion Shmuel was, he accepted him as he was.
