Buckley Experience Analysis

For the past nine years at Buckley, I have learned that my initial impressions of people shouldn’t be set in concrete, as they evolve over time. I once thought that I completely knew all the people in my life, but now I know it is impossible to hold a final judgment for each person are always changing for the better or for the worse. I spent the majority of my time with the same forty people, so one would assume that everyone in the grade would have a set social status and that us students would be separated into our cliques, but that is not the case. Having an older brother, I was forced to mature quicker to keep up with him and his cronies. Unfortunately, several of my best friends from fourth and fifth grade retained a more naïve nature, and instead of enjoying time with them, I tolerated it. I grew closer to other classmates who had developed into more similar people to myself, as they shared my new look on the world and my matured sense of humor. In addition, as our grade grew older, my opinions of classmates and their opinion of me changed everyday. The teenage mind is mercurial: one day a teen could love a classmate and the next tolerate him. For example, near the end of sixth grade, our class was taking advantage of an unprepared substitute teacher. When a few classmates and I reported this to another teacher, one of my good friends who led the misbehavior became furious. From that point on, he stole my pencils, hid my books, drew on my blazer, and continued with this harassing until I finally confronted him. To this day he stills holds a grudge because of my actions, acting as if we are enemies whenever we speak. However, after I reported the misbehavior to the teacher, other people in my class respected me because of it, and I became friends with classmates I hadn’t gotten to know very
