What if you had had to kill to survive? The adventure story The Call of the Wild by Jack London a dog named Buck had to kill and fight for survival. I will tell you how he had a nice rich owner in Santa Clara Valley to having a master looking to strike it rich in the freezing Yukon. Buck had a nice easy life until one of his master's friends stole him and sold him then he had to fight to survive. Nothing would stand in Buck’s way. The theme Survival of the Fittest occurs multiple times in the story while Buck is trying to survive in the harsh Yukon environment. Buck shows a lot of abilities of his survival of the fittest. The first reason of buck showing his abilities to be fit to survive is that he was hungry and they had no food but he stole some from his master even if he was caught he could've gotten in trouble. “This first theft marked Buck as fit to survive in the hostile Northland environment. It marked his adaptability, hi capacity to adjust to himself to changing conditions, the lack of which would have meant swift terrible death. (London 24)”.
