Imagine how the religions could have many differences and similarities at the same time. In this essay, it will show the differences and similarities between Buddhism, and Christianity. The two religions, Buddhism and Christianity have many differences and similarities including the topic of, “Customs”.
There are lots of customs in Buddhism. First of all in Buddhism, one of them is “meditation”. It is shown about the meditation practiced in Buddhism, when it says, “To accustom oneself to something.” Meditation is one of the customs that Buddhists do when they pray. Meditation gives a meaning of transforming the mind. The Buddhists think that by doing the meditation practices, it develops concentration, positive thoughts, and clarity, which …show more content…

Firstly, the Buddhists don’t pray to god, but Christians do pray to god. Buddhists pray in a totally different way than how Christians pray. Buddhists don’t really pray, but chant. They repeat certain words and whenever they chant, they have to recite or chant the 3 “Jewels”; Buddha, dharma, Sangha and also the 5 precepts to renew Buddha’s commitment. As people are known, Christians goes to churches every Sunday, and sing, pray, and learn about god etc. when they go to the church. Secondly, Christians have particular days such as Sundays to go to church, but Buddhists don’t have particular days to go to temples. In Christianity, Christians goes to churches every Sunday, which is a day that is chosen for Christians. In Buddhism, there aren’t days that are chosen for Buddhists to go to the temples. The day that the Buddhists always go to temples is the “Vesak”, the Buddha’s day. This day could be compared with every Christians going to churches on Christmas. Finally, Christians are familiar with burial, but Buddhism is familiar with cremation for the funeral. Both religions accept both burial, and cremation for their funerals. But, they still have a difference on what funerals they are more familiar than the other.
The two religions, Buddhism and Christianity have a lot of differences and similarities including the topic of “Customs”. It showed lots of different thought of people on the same religion, and different thoughts on different religions. So, depending on what religion people believe people could have a different life, because of all of the differences and similarities that the religions have.
