When introducing anything new in any area, you will always have many issues. The Constitution was one of the first to show the weakness in the Articles of Confederation. The founding fathers had it very tough when they had to draft the Declaration of Independence and make sure they answered the complaints of the people. Another document that was introduced shortly after was the Bill of Rights. The Bill holds the government to what kind of power they can use.

Some of the issues consisted of each state could build their own military, create their own currency, and collects their own taxes. In the Articles of Confederation, the congress wanted to make voting on a state-by-state basis and proportional state taxes based only on land values. When it came to the decision as to what to do with the western lands, it was undetermined what actions to take. When the Congress sent out copies of the Articles of Confederation for each state to review for their input, they found it was not flawless but decided it was better to have a flawed plan rather than no formal government. The declaration of Independence was approved by the Congress on July 4, 1776 after our four fathers met for four days to make sure they had everything. The four fathers could not catch everything so the Constitution paid close attention to the flaws in the Declaration of Independence and replaced all direct mentions of slavery. The Great Compromise was written in 1787 by two men, Oliver Ellsworth and Roger Sherman, during the Constitutional Convention. The Articles of Confederation helped address a feeble government system and pointed out a number of failures.. The Constitution identified and tried to fix the many issues that the Declaration of Independence stated. In doing so, the issue of lack of respect for the common good of the people from the King of Great Britain was corrected by the protection of the first amendment right which states freedom of speech, religion, press, etc. The King of Great Britain was also imposing taxes without the consent of the people in the Americas and thus it angered the colonists.
