His innovations include making a cake light up, making the cake move, or making a life size car (Edwards). Buddy Valastro and his crew are always up for the challenge. One main extraordinary innovation Valastro and his crew created was the Transformer cake. The cake weighed about 2,000 pounds and was made out of cake and included hydraulics. The eyes glowed, the cake had special effects, and it was over seven feet tall. Because of the size and weight of the cake, they had to go off premises to build it because it would not fit into the bakery (Edwards). It is one thing to just make a really big cake with a printed picture on edible paper to put on the cake but, another to actually create a life-sized cake that requires more than a dozen people helping out to put together. After being entertained with the special effects of the cake, everyone at the New York International Auto Show got to enjoy a piece of the cake.
