Lexington and Concord The battles of lexington and concord happened on April 18, 1775. It was started by the higher ranking officers sending troop regiments to Lexington first then Concord. The battles were fought by the minutemen and british soldiers. The british soldiers were trying to take control and get supplies.

The First Battle of Fort Sumter began on April 12, 1861, when Confederate artillery fired on the Union garrison. These were the first shots of the war and continued all day, watched by many civilians in a celebratory spirit. The fort had been cut off from its supply line and surrendered the next day. The Second Battle of Fort Sumter (September 8, 1863) was a failed attempt by the Union to retake the fort, dogged by a rivalry between army and navy commanders. Although the fort was reduced to rubble, it remained in Confederate hands until it was evacuated as General Sherman marched through South Carolina in February 1865.
General Rosecrans noticed the large clouds of dust kicked up by Confederate force movement. This represented the first decision point of the battle. The Battle of Shiloh (aka the Battle of Pittsburg Landing) took place at Southwest Tennessee on April 6, 1862. The battle started when Confederate soldiers attacked Union soldiers. The leaders of the battle were led by General Ulysses S. Grant of the Union and General Albert S. Johnston of the Confederates. After a while of fierce combat, the Confederates were forced back ending with a win for the Union. But this battle came at a cost, in total 23,000 confederate and union soldiers died.
Major General John Pope lead approximately 62,000 Union soldiers in the Second Battle of Bull Run. On the other side, the Confederates were lead by General Robert E. Lee. Despite having fewer men, the Confederates were ultimately victorious as a result of their superior military strategy and their understanding and use of the local terrain. The Second Battle of Bull Run was greatly impacted by both the resources of the both the Union and the Confederate troops, as well as by the local geography of the battle.

The battle of Gettysburg is still considered to historians to not only be the most important battle of the Civil war but the deciding factor towards victory.
