In the story “Fan Club” by Rona Maynard, and the article “When Bullying Goes High-tech” by Elizabeth Landau, there are many connections with the topic bullying. Ashley and Rachel were both bullied by their classmates, but in different ways. We know this because on page five of “Fan Club” Rona states, “That was when Laura saw that they were all wearing little white cards with a fat frizzy, hairy figure drawn on the front, what did it mean? She looked closely, “Hortensky Fan Club” said the bright red letters.” While in “When Bullying Goes High-Tech” in paragraph 30, Elizabeth says that “When she was 11, a classmate of hers took photos of Ashley and created an entire Facebook page about her but denied doing it.

Which isn’t a good thing bullying shouldn't exist at all. Not only that but people also tend to use social media to make a fake account to talk to someone or pretend to be someone else.
Social media does have to do a lot with how and why cyberbullying and cyber harassment occurs, especially now that many people have at least one social media.

Before cellphones and social media, bullying used to be pushing each other around on the playground. Since the evolution of the internet, cell phones, and social media, the amount of bullying has increased drastically. Kids are ganging up on others posting material on social media for everyone to see. It’s bad enough that people are being bullied, but bullying someone with a mental illness can cause them to commit suicide. Losing a life to bullying is incredibly tragic, and action needs to be taken to stop it.
“We hate some persons because we do not know them; and will not know them because we hate them. ”-Charles Caleb Colton. I love this quote because it almost summarizes what I will be talking about today. We’ve always been told to love others and accept them, but if you look around, it’s obvious that humanity as a whole hasn’t listened to this piece of advice. People often judge others by what they seem like on the surface, but if you search deep down and get to know them, 99% of the time your assumption will be wrong-to some degree.

Cyberbullying never used to be much of a problem, in fact it didn’t use to exist. But now with all the new technology, and all the freedom online cyber bullying happens everyday.
Cyber bullying has become worse than traditional bullying. In a recent article I came across had presented the topic of how horrible cyber bullying is becoming. This short phrase from the article Stated , “The Internet has changed, changing so much else. Now there is "Cyber Bullying, and although it is less physical than traditional forms of bullying, it can have more devastating and longer-lasting effects. It is rapidly becoming a major problem.”
Bullying has happened to everyone and even you have been bullied at some point and time of your life. Bullies seem to not realise that they are bullying and that it is hurting the victim. There may be some reasons why social media is good for kids, but all and all social media is dangerous to the well-being and education of minors. To start with, social media is dangerous to kids that are online because people can be anonymous, predators, and/or cyberbullies. For example, Hinduja, a professor of criminal justice, at Florida Atlantic University says that about 20% of youth have been either victims or perpetrators of cyberbullying. Also, masking one 's identity on the internet make someone more likely to be a cyberbully (SIRS 1). Masking one’s identity can be a serious problem.
