Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, And Jeffrey Dahmer: A Serial Killer

For a long time I have been really interested in serial killers and the circumtances around their lives, murders and trials. Although I tend to be more interested in older historic cases such as Elizabeth Báthory, Darya Saltykova, and H. H. Holmes, I recognize that many people are not familiar with these names, or the crimes that they correlate to. When asked to name who I consider to be the most notorious serial killers, I constructed the list of Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, and Jeffrey Dahmer being the killer with the most notoriety.
According to the Crime Museum all three killers had relatively normal upbringings and to some degree attempted to partake in society. Yet as they grew each shows signs of sexual deviance and misconduct to some degree, as Bundy was found to have raped women, while Dahmer and Gacy each had instances in which they were convicted of assaulting young males. As for more differences it is easy to see that each had techniques that they used to accomplish the killings. Bundy used charm to lure his victims, Gacy was able to lure youth through job offers as well as his community standing, and Dahmer drugged his victims into submission. After the victims were subdued Gacy would regularly strangle as did Bundy, and for Dahmer it wasn’t uncommon for his victims to be lobotomized and strangled. After the arrests of each killer they went to trial and were sentenced for their crimes; Dahmer pled insanity but was found sane just like Gacy and Dahmer received multiple life sentence while Gacy was sentenced to death, Bundy was intended to pled guilty to a charge but changed at the last moment despite his attorneys recommendations and subsequently received three death
