The United States of America is a country built on corruption, slavery, deception, and money. For centuries, America has been described with admiration as a “free country” built on pride and equality amongst fellow men, this statement could not be more far from the truth. Numerous races have been enslaved, persecuted, and murdered. Ultimately, slavery is the symbol of our country’s patriotism, not the flag, why should the American people, worship a piece of cloth that neither protects nor represents, their struggles and sacrifices. “How many innocent flags paid the ultimate price while members of Congress concentrated on making the world safe for soft money” (Kingsley 75)? Why are American soldiers not being taken care of indefinitely, for their heroic services in this country? In this situation, The United States Government should no longer allow these men to continue going overseas to die, come home damaged, with a medal, no self-worth, or any means of normality. In light of the many unpatriotic manners in which we treat our own, I stand firm in my decision to continue to let Americans burn the flag. Moreover, Americans should be allowed to express their 1rst amendment right to destroy a flag, that represents the lost souls of the children, and innocent victims, whom died in relation to the inhumane eradications of citizens, which has occurred right here in America for years. “The flag is the least American of our patriotic icon.” Its design says nothing distinctive about us except that we were 13 colonies and are now 50 states” (Kinsley 75). At this level, a patriotic gesture would be to burn every flag and replace it with a new symbol that represent the brutality, fear, and hate that we descend onto each other.
