One of their biggest symbols is the Maple Leaf, which is placed in the center of the country’s flag. Maple syrup has been a large economic industry for Canadians for decades, but is also something that unites Canadians by making their own maple syrup. They also symbolize the Poppy Flower, a flower that is used to honor fallen soldiers on Canada’s Remembrance Day, and is also present at many funerals of non-military citizens. One of which is being the creator of hockey. Canadians not only came up with the sport but have taken an obsession with the sport and producing some of the best players. With the country's flag being a maple leaf it shows that the country is very outdoor in everything they do. This will help benefit Dick’s Sporting Goods in the country because our company is center focused on outdoor activities like hunting, camping, sports, fishing, hiking and many other sections. Advertising costs would be extremely high in order to compete with other well-established brands such as Mountain Equipment Co-op, Canadian Outdoor Equipment Co., and Bass Pro Shop. Dick’s Sporting Goods would have difficulty creating brand loyalty as well, as Canadian consumers have already been affluent with other outdoors stores. Dick’s Sporting Goods must set an extensive advertising and marketing campaign in order to create a new customer base, that most likely will be very expensive. Price matching would be the best technique to build a customer base, which would make stores slightly less profitable. The numerous options of outdoor stores that already exist makes it a very difficult market for Dick’s to enter. They are not offering any exclusive products that do not currently exist at other local, established retailers. Therefore, it will be very difficult to create and secure a new customer base while adhering to the campaign’s budget.
