The Communications Decency Act (CDA) was the first of its kind measure taken by the United States to control pornographic material over the internet. Before this act, indecency over TV and Broadcasting was already controlled by the Federal Communications Commissions of CDA. According to this act, the Federal Communications Commission of CDA reserved a right to control the material going on the internet as well as the members who post any indecent material. This was indeed a first measure towards the internet and one of the most basic and needed ones. It would require an ample amount of time for a system to make this act work. The arguments in the Supreme Court posed were comparisons with the cyberspace to libraries, televisions and also public places. The differences for these three places with respect to cyberspace are:
Libraries:
Libraries and internet, when compared are on a same level of giving information. Within a library anyone can access its database and collect any sort of material they wished to. Given the first amendment policy for the libraries, no librarian has a right to stop any person to access any material at a given point of time.
Television:

But, again as general conscience goes and human rights, it is very confusing whether parents are the sole deciders to make this decision happen. For kids about the age ranging from 10-15 it can be a decision based on the parents and kids but for kids ranging from 1-7 it kind of completely depends on the parents since these kids do not completely have an idea about what’s going on.
