Countless individuals grab a warm cup of coffee in the morning before heading out to conquer the day, and my whole life I had wondered, why? I myself am not to fond of coffee, but what about attracted so many others to it? After asking questions and researching I figured out that the caffeine in the drink is the magical ingredient. As I grew up, I now understand why countless people drink beverages with caffeine, to get the boost of energy needed for the day. A warm cup of coffee in the morning is a way millions of people start off the day, but other than the energy what are benefits of caffeine? The reason that you get a boost of energy when drinking caffeine, is due to the way caffeine tricks your brain. Caffeine uses the same mechanisms as other stimulants to stimulate the brain function. Caffeine takes over the adenosine receptors, pushing the adenosine moving the adenosine out of the way, making us feel less tired or more awake, but this affect varies from person to person. Caffeine is a central nervous system stimulant. When it reaches your brain, the most prominent effect is alertness. The ingredient is more than likely to cause multiple symptoms. Immedient causes could also include increase in blood pressure, improved athletic performance, and increase in urination. You’ll feel more awake and less tired, so it’s a common ingredient in medications to treat or manage drowsiness, headaches, and migraines. Long term effects include insomnia: inability to sleep, migraines, addiction, and depression to name a few. Even though caffeine can be healthy, like most foods, it can become detrimental to your health if consumed too much. The effects of caffeine can show up within 15 minutes of consumption all the way till 6 hours
