I decided to write a letter from news anchor, Christine Lund, to the artist of the song “Dirty Laundry”, Don Henley. The song “Dirty Laundry” describes mass media sensationalism, specifically in terms of celebrities and how serious news events are reported. Christine Lund was an actual reported at the time the song was written. She was even speculated to be an inspiration for the song. I chose to write letter from her to Henley because I wanted to try to gain the news anchors perspective of the issues addressed in the song.
1.) Appeal to Emotion Paragraph 13 “Anyone with a computer and a modern can set up public sites featuring the perversion of their choice, whether its mutilation of female genitals, eroticized urination and defecation, bestiality, or featuring depiction of incest. She uses the appeal to emotion here by frightening her audience with an argument that is moving to convince them that these websites are real and out there for the public. 2.) Appeal to Reason Paragraph 17 “Technological change mandates legal change only insofar as it affects the justification for a law” (349).
In Andrew Smith’s attempt to get fired, by glorifying these issues to young adults, he has illustrated how truly inappropriate these topics are for
Specifically associated with her tone is a feeling of anger towards the people who have been careless and have suppressed the issue. Her criticizing tone also connects to her use of rhetorical questions to get the readers to be on her side, questioning the status
Grace Tame, former Australian of the Year and sexual abuse survivor and advocate, has been represented in a variety of ways by the media, all differing depending on the respective media’s biases, purposes and perspectives. Upon collation of the different representations of Tame, an overall picture can be put together of who she truly is, how she wants people to view her and how different people may perceive her. A key example of this arises upon comparison of the articles; ‘If looks could kill’ from the Green Left organisation, and ‘Feminism’s embarrassing fall from ‘Grace’’ from The Spectator. Both of these articles are about the Grace Tame and Scott Morrison meeting which sent ripples throughout the Australian media, and have an extreme amount
To be an ideal leader takes a lot of work and is nearly impossible. Ralph was elected leader in the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding and in the novel, Ralph’s continuing struggles result in failure. Ralph could not maintain a sense of civilization, could not keep the boys working together, nor could he keep his position as chief, which results in his overall failure. Ralph’s struggle to keep the boys working together to survive failed and added on to his overall failure.
In the past ten years, he said, the volume of mail has noticeable decreased, even though the circulation of his magazine has risen.” This means that many people do not say what they believe is true and give their own opinion towards something believe needs to be fixed. This is similar to the essay “The Boston Photographs” because the newspaper company who revealed the tragic photos defended the woman, and some people mocked the woman. Another comparison is in “The Singer Solution to World Poverty”, on page 381 it states, “Now you, too have the information you need to save a child’s life. How should you judge yourself if you don’t do it?
Art also gives children a sense of appreciation for the human body and helps them become comfortable in their own skin. This essay presents a bold defense of her unique stance and image as a “First Amendment junkie”
Description: This MLCP asked me to look at and evaluate the banishment of two books: The Handmaid’s Tale and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. The Handmaid’s Tale is about an anti-feminist fascist state that has replaced the United States of America because the reproduction rates have lowered dramatically. Surrogate mothers, or in this text ‘handmaids’ are assigned to “elite” or powerful couples that are having trouble having children. This book follows the story of one particular handmaid.
In her essay “Zombies as a Metaphor for Society” Sabrina Student attempts to discuss the history and evolution of zombie-based entertainment and the social implications of this pop culture icon. According to Student, zombies are an effective storytelling vehicle to discuss societal issues at key points in American history. Careful reading of Student’s paper reveals many faults in her documentation of information sources, and a troubling lack of competency in Modern Language Association (MLA) style. Student’s page formatting, in-text citations, and the Works Cited page all contain errors ranging from minor punctuation mistakes to serious breaches of information integrity.

This is evident through the perspective of which Oprah conveys to the audience, stating rather that such issues “transcend any culture, geography, race, religion. Politics or workplace.” Thus, such ideas that Oprah explores are not limited to the confides of the film industry, and as such her speech stands as a reflection to all issues and controversies regarding global and societal mistreatment and discrimination. Oprah further emphasizes the struggles to which most women must endure so as to speak out against such controversies, with her main, yet subtle, critique directed towards the scrutiny of the mud-slinging Fake News campaign. Oprah simply states that “we all know the press is under siege these days.”
Moving on to the second article, a different form of sexual assault was explored. Exploiting young military women by publishing their nude photos on the Internet. The website in question that contained the pornography was Annon-IB; where nude photos were published without consent of the person in the photo such as, Jennifer Lawrence not just of women who were serving our country to help make it possible for us to sleep soundly at
