Calculate The Monthly Precipitation For Each Month Of 2008

415 Words2 Pages

2) Calculate the total precipitation for each month of 2008 and 2010. Report them in a Table for both 2008 and 2010. Table one below shows the monthly precipitation (cm) at Onondaga Park, Syracuse, NY, for the years 2008 and 2010. This data was obtained by using data that were provided for us to complete this project from the upper Onondaga Park Data for both 2008 and 2010 where daily precipitation were measured each day for 365 days over the course of those two years. To determine monthly precipitation, the sum of daily precipitation volumes were calculated for each month for 2008 and 2010.

3) Generate a XY scatter plot showing the monthly data for each year, in relation to monthly normal precipitation. To show the relationship …show more content…

Figure two below illustrates monthly precipitations data for each year at Onondaga Park, Syracuse, NY in the years 2008 and 2010. These volumes were articulate as a percentage of the monthly normal precipitation for each month of the year. To compute this number, the deviation from normal in percentage, the equation below was used:
((Monthly Precipitation in cm)-(Normal Values in cm))/(Normal Values in cm)*100
Based on the volume computed using the equation above the bar graph was generated, the upper bars, that are above the zero deviation from normal in percentage illustrates the wettest months in Syracuse for years 2008 and 2010. The lower bars below the deviation from normal in percentage shows the dries months in Syracuse for years 2008 and 2010.

5) Generate a table comparing the annual precipitation (total amount and percent deviation) to the 30-year normal. Table two below shows a comparison of the annual precipitation (total amount and percent deviation) to the 30-year normal. To find these volumes the sum of each volume for the Monthly Precipitation (cm), the Annual Precipitation (cm), and the Deviation from normal (%) were computed. The Normal Precipitation (cm) is the same for both 2008 and 2010 since those years are within the 30-year
