Camp Twilight is a comedic play designed for adolescents and teens that follows the hijinks taking place at the titular Camp Twilight, an adventure-themed summer camp run by curator Lorraine Lupine and her husband Louie, a quirky gentleman whose composure deteriorates as the moon becomes full. The mysterious but misunderstood Eduardo is a teenage vampire who arrives at camp while on the run from his parents, who want to move to Albuquerque, New Mexico. Nora and Noah Count, the vampiric parents in question, follow his trail and take residence at camp as a pair of bats, trying to convince their son to come home, and narrowly avoid the camp cook, Maxine, and the countless amounts of silver cutlery at her disposal. The actors spoke too quickly to be picked up on recording very easily, so I strained to hear complete sentences and often couldn’t understand what was being said. This caused some of the vocal comedy and one-liners to fall flat on the audience, as the actors gave no time for themselves or the audience to react before immediately jumping into the next line. The recording equipment were a few amateur quality camcorders, as well, which further challenged my ability to understand what was being said. The lighting throughout the play felt ‘safe’, for lack of a better term. They kept consistent lighting, dimmed the lights slightly and put on blue lights when necessary for the darker scenes, but the dimming was mostly subtle and I could hardly read any blue light unless I squinted to notice, with one scene being the exception: the Mean Girls were congregated in the late night to prepare a prank, and the lighting was dramatically more blue and dim, and it appears they had also prepared a fog machine for more ambience.
