I find the church to relate to a business in several ways. The first being how it is looking to bring new people in. In a business, one of the ways to be successful is by bringing in new customers. It is similar in the way the church works. You want to open your doors to new people and hope to gain new members in the congregation. It is not necessarily what church can gain the most members to be successful, however, it is more of the opportunity to share to more people. The second way is how money is funded and used. The church members give tithes which then go to pay bills. With a business, it is a little different. People pay for items and then that money is used to pay the bills. The good to social media is that churches can stream worship services live for people who cannot attend that day for some reason to still be able to hear the sermon. Social media is also a good way for churches to broadcast upcoming events that may get the community involved. People that may have no connection to church at all can stumble upon something from the church on social media. Another good thing about social media is a lot of churches have private pages to keep everyone within the church updated. People can post prayer request and know that they have the encouragement of their church. However, there are some negatives to social media as well. Social media started to become extreme popular when I was in elementary and middle school. For me, it has always been something to look at in my free time, but is not something to be brought into the church. When I sit and see these middle and high schoolers who cannot put it down for an hour long church service I find it to be an issue. Social media is becoming an idol to them whether they realize it or not. In those moments, social media is disrupting the church. Social media can have its positives, as well as its negatives when it comes to church. When used in the right ways, it can bring people to church that would not otherwise be there, as well as keep people connected that are unable to attend.
