Geographical Comparison of China and Canada Canada and China share many similarities and differences when it comes to their land features. They both have vastly different geographical and water features. Canada is a country with a vast and diverse landscape, while China is known for its diverse geography of deserts, mountains, and plateaus. Through an analysis of their unique landscapes and water systems, this essay will explore the similarities and differences between these two countries. One similarity is the presence of prairies in both countries. The Canadian Prairies region, which includes Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, is characterized by vast fields and flats with little forest cover. “The land originally under grass contained a relatively large amount of organic matter and total nitrogen.”(Hedlin, 1995), this area is well-developed in agriculture, mining, livestock, and oil due to the large amounts of agricultural land present. Similarly, the Hulunbeier steppe in China is comparable to the Canadian prairie, covering an area of approximately 100,000 km2. The grass quality in the Hulunbeier steppe is very good, making it a thriving area for the livestock industry. However, there are also differences between the two prairies. The climate in the Canadian Prairies is dry with cold winters and warm summers and low precipitation, whereas the Hulunbeier steppe has hot and rainy summers and is generally more humid. The two countries also differ in their mountain ranges. Canada's Rocky Mountains and Appalachian Mountains are known for their large glaciers and …show more content…
