During the Industrial Age, capital became a key factor to the success of businesses and operations of companies. Because of this, some changes needed to be made and new processes needed to be introduced. One of these new ideas was stock. “Large-scale companies…needed so much capital that they sold hundreds of thousands of shares. These businesses formed giant corporations, businesses that are owned by many investors who buy shares of stock” (247). This meant that various partakers, or stockholders, could buy into big businesses to own small sections of the companies they bought into.
