Topic 2: Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution is a documentary film which was written and directed by Stanley Nelson Jr. in 2015. This documentary reveals the facts about social and political impact of Black Panther Party. Black Panther Party was sort of political party which was founded in 1966 by two persons: Bobby Seale and Huey Newton (African-American political activists). In this documentary, Nelson has included the interviews of FBI agents and survived panthers. These interviews are revealing the facts about basic purpose of Black Panther Party (BPP), its cultural significance to American societies and its social and political impacts on life of all Americans especially African-Americans.
The Black panther party founded in October of 1966 by Bobby Seale and Huey Newton. The main purpose of this group was to fight white oppression after seeing many people suffer from police brutality. THey had chosen the name Black panthers because the black panther doesn’t strike first, “but if the aggressor strikes first, then he’ll attack.” the black panthers had a 10 point plan that had everything they wanted to change in society.
During the 1960s and 70s, America became a nation of issues and controversy. In fact, various groups of people attempted to identify the root problems within American society and the role of citizens in resolving them. During this time, the most prominent groups, still in existence today, were the Students for a Democratic Society (SDS), the Black Panther Party, and the United Farm Workers. In the following documents, there were numerous issues within American society that were discussed, however, one of the most common problems were centered around freedom. In addition, another reason for change comprised of self-reliance.

The new Marvel Movie, Black Panther, just hit the market and everyone is raving about it already. This movie hero from modern times shares the same qualities as a hero from ancient Greece; the stories of heroes use the same concepts, just with different names and settings. For example, Odysseus from Homer’s epic poem the Odyssey, shares multiple characteristics with the Black Panther. The major difference between the two is that Odysseus is struggling to go back home while Black Panther is struggling to save his home, but both concern the battle against injustice.
In watching the documentary of the Black Panther Party (movement) and how they were form to better the communities around them. The Government officials, FBI in particular infuriated to destroy them in light to keep power among the weaker individuals of society. The individuals happen to be of color (Blacks, Latinos, and Asians). I did however admire how the documentary portrayed black culture at that time. Despite the things that were occurring between law enforcement and the Black Panther party, blackness was promoted and people were proud to be black.

Teachers have a lot of power. They can fail you or send you to the office. Superheroes like Iron Man are also very powerful. They can fly through the air, shoot spiderwebs, and lift heavy objects. When you compare the powers of teachers against the powers of superheroes, it doesn’t even come close: superheroes like Iron Man are much more powerful than teachers like Mr. Moore.
CGI in the past 20 years have greatly improved and continues to improve every single day. Most movies anymore use CGI a lot since it gives it the wow factor and gets people’s attention. I think it’s silly to risk your talent and crew alike because if you injury an A-List celebrity, then there could be a big chance that the movie production company will get sued. If you were to injury a crew member or a talent, it can also lead to deadly consequences. Some examples would be with Michael J. Fox in Back to the Future III, the scene where he is hanging with the rope around his neck, he isn’t standing on anything and people didn’t realize that he was unconscious for about 30 seconds.
CGI stands for computer-generated imagery (special visual effects created using computer software). The Birds is about a woman named, ‘Melanie Daniels’ who gets these birds and gifts them to a man named, ‘Mitch Brenner’. One day at a party for Mitch Brenner’s sister, the birds start attacking everyone. A whole butterfly effect happens and one after another, all the birds in the area are attacking the civilians. According to the article, ‘How Alfred Hitchcock Brought The Birds' Titular Terrors To Life’, it states, “One of Alfred Hitchcock's most beloved films also happens to be one of the most technically challenging productions; in the days of early CGI, orchestrating a creature feature was a daunting task — but not too daunting for a filmmaker known for pioneering storytelling techniques.”
As one of the main forms of American heroic film, Marvel Movies films are captured by a large number of Chinese audiences by virtue of its wonderful storyline, intense fighting scenes, dazzling psychedelic special effects scenes and other high-quality popular consumer cultures elements. These characteristics makes it a powerful tool for the United States to pursue cultural imperialism in the context of globalization. The film is everywhere embodied in universalism, individualism, crisis consciousness, conservatism, fate and white supremacy of American values.
