How to Rebuild a Keihin Carburetor Regardless of the model of your carburetor, it still may need maintenance from time to time. Gathering Supplies Before you begin to rebuild your Keihin Carburetor, you will want to gather the necessary tools and supplies. You should set aside enough time to complete the job from start to finish to avoid confusion. Remove the four retainer screws attaching the float bowl to the base of the carburetor. Remove the float bowl by lifting out of carburetor assembly. Remove the retainer pin from the top of the floats and pull the floats out of carburetor. Unscrew the pilot jet and main jet. Cleaning Cut 3 pieces of copper wire that each measure at 1 foot in length. With 2 pieces of wire coiled together, clean out the larger jet holes by pushing the wire through the hole repeatedly. With the third piece of wire, clean the smaller jet holes by using the same procedure as with the larger holes. Clean each jet hole and cover thoroughly with the carburetor cleaning spray. Reassembly Replace the jets into the carburetor assembly. Position the float height directly underneath the fuel needle by bending the metal tab on the needle.
