In the Library and Information Studies program I hope to develop the skills that I need, such as analytical thinking and a more thorough knowledge of databases and computer programs, to begin a career in library sciences. These skills will build upon the ones that I have developed in my undergraduate degree in History through the increased concentration on skills such as researching and reading.
I chose to apply to University of Wisconsin Madison because it is one of the best schools in the nation and has a terrific program for Library and Information Services. Madison is a great city with a cornucopia of high impact opportunities such as working with the government or many state-run museums. Madison also boasts extensive state archives, which is an optimal place to do research and to learn how best to research.

I want other children to be able to have experiences similar to the ones I had. Additionally, the pressing issue of childhood literacy in our nation calls for the development of public libraries My interest in public access education has led me to obtain my bachelor's degree at a public university and to pursue my master’s degree at a public university as well.
The reason I desire to pursue a career in a public library is that one gets to see people from all walks of life discovering their new passion for reading.
