When going to a production of Macbeth, you’ll most likely get lost in the exquisite, admirable language of Shakespeare, or you might even find yourself bewildered by the perplexing language. Carmen Khan, director of the production of Macbeth at the Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre, conveys her vision of the theatrical work in a vividly intriguing way through her wisely chosen cast, set design, and other play elements. She delivers a brilliant side of Macbeth that leaves the audience in pure awe and in a clear understanding of Shakespeare’s masterpiece. The cast of the production of Macbeth is one to be reckoned with. Macbeth, which is played by, Rob Kahn, is portrayed with true power and enthusiasm. His dedication to his character and his vocal ability to deliver each of his lines with emphasis build on his character as Macbeth. He loses his audience into his world of malice by allowing himself to be pursued by his hallucinations, which ultimately conveys his true madness. Capper portrays the profound guilt that Lady Macbeth begins to endure during the play, but also doesn’t fail to convey a more malicious side when needed. She proves to step inside the character Lady Macbeth the most, during the “Out damned spot” scene in the production. Intriguing the audience with her screams of agony, she uses the rapid movements of washing her hands and the face of pure misery to draw the audience into her mental state of mind.
