-Why did JamesTown come so close to failing in its early years? Jamestown, located on the James River in Virginia, was a swampy, marshy place to live. It was hot during the summer and cold in the winter, making it an unfavorable place to dwell, especially if you were an uppercut aristocrat from England. Before Jamestown existed though, a group of investors asked King James the First to allow them a royal charter, to set up a colony in the New World, who’s sole purpose was to export goods from the New World and send them back to the English Empire.
According to an encyclopedia source,by 1919,”the need for a planned system of national highways became discernible with the proliferating common use of cars in the United States”(Source #4).In addition, another source claims that “more than 90 percent of the nation’s households have access to automobiles”(Source #7).As directly indicated by these two sources, automoibles weren’t a luxury, but rather they were true necessities for many. As a result, these very crucial interstate highways have ultimately expanded

As Misery begins, Paul Sheldon, the author of the wildly popular Misery Chastain novels, has just finished the manuscript of his new crime novel, Fast Cars. He checks out of the Hotel Boulderado in Colorado, where he has completed the first draft of all his novels since 1974, and makes an alcohol-influenced decision to drive to Los Angeles rather than fly back home to New York. However, a snowstorm hits on the way, and he drives off a cliff and crashes into a snowbank. He is rescued from the crash by Annie Wilkes, a former nurse who lives in Sidewinder, Colorado. Rather than take him to the hospital for treatment for his shattered legs, she puts him in her guest bedroom, puts his legs in crude makeshift splints, and gives him pills from her illegal stash of painkillers.
Before the spark of cars’ popularity, society was designed and built around one thing; humans and our desire to socialize. In the earliest days of cars, parking was not a huge deal seen as how most people could not afford such a luxury; soon however, came the large-scale production of cars at affordable prices and cars began to encroach upon society. Jumping to modern-day, we fully acknowledge the need for adequate parking, yet we still choose to sacrifice huge portions of land to automobiles when not in use. By implementing structured parking into areas where people go to gather we instantly reclaim large plots of land that can then be used for many more social purposes; cafes and small businesses can begin to develop around these structures,
Back in 8th Grade, there is a car contest in my physics class. Which is to built a car that uses the balloon as the engine, and see who’s car can travel farthest distance. Like usual, I am so excited when I heard the contest, I want to win! Once I heard the contest, i begin to draw all my ideas I had to build the car. My first idea is to use big plastic plates to build the wheels.
First, according to the article, We Love Our Cars,’’The automobile, Boeckmann said, is one of the ‘few mechanical objects that people will fall in love with.’’’ For instance, people who love old cars and sports cars will lose interest in cars. In addition to some losing interest in cars, people who love building cars for fun or with their kids will no longer be able to do so. As driverless cars appear more and more, old cars will disappear, therefore there will be no old parts to build cars with. Finally, as more driverless cars get built, there will be no more sports cars.
First of all, let’s talk about the environment. I’m sure you all know about greenhouse gases and global warming, so I won’t talk much about that, but you may not know that road vehicles produce 10% of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions. This does include vehicles other than cars like trucks, but Tesla just came out with an electric truck which is faster and can carry more weight than any petrol/diesel truck. Greenhouses gases carbon-dioxide and methane have hit their highest levels in the past 420,000 years, and the extent of arctic sea ice has declined about 10% in the last 30 years.

This is all because of global warming, and if we start switching to electric cars, we could make a big difference and maybe, just maybe the effects of global warming will decrease.
