My poster is about a well-rounded analysis of a notorious news reporter and journalist named Jorge Ramos and the actions that he takes and why he is the person he is and why he wants to help the progression of the Latino Community. He definitely inspires me a lot because he constantly finds solutions towards the Latino community crisis. In my honors leaderships, we discussed about the different type of theories in regards to a person’s behavior. The servant leadership that Jorge Ramos displays is an excellent example of the leadership qualities a person should have and the service that Ramos does is known throughout the Latino Communities. I also mentioned the ethnical and unethical portion of it and how it connects to the leadership that

While she was not directly involved in the Latinx feminist movement, her contributions to the labor movement and her support of her husband's activism helped to pave the way for greater equality and opportunities for Latinx women. Helen Chavez also helped to found the United Farm Workers (UFW) credit union, which provided
The 1960’s was at its height in the civil rights movement. Activists and protesters used the power of nonviolence for the movement. Unfortunately, when violence is used, it can result in death, which is the fate Dr. King saw. Cesar Chavez agrees that nonviolence is the key to any activist movement. In Chavez’s article, he chooses ethos and activistic diction as his rhetorical strategies to develop his argument about nonviolent resistance.
The Gospel of Cesar Chavez: My Faith in Action, by Mario T. Garcia, uses Cesar Chavez’s own words to express his spiritual and religious personality and how it led him to organize a movement for a change in the farm workers’ lifestyle of America. Through his experiences and observations with religion and spirituality growing up, Cesar created his own myth by conveying nonviolence and self-sacrifice as the basis of his American religious experience. Thus, paving the way towards reform for farm workers. To be able to understand Cesar’s motive behind his movement, violence and nonviolence needs to be distinguished. A violent movement is a protest that is set up to achieve a goal by using violent acts (riots, house raids, etc.).
The Wellton 26’s lives in Veracruz, Mexico, are the opposite of life in United States. Unlike most areas of the U.S., the citizens of Veracruz live in an “economy of hunger” (Urrea 45). Families must rely on themselves, with little to no help from the government, and their economic status is far below
Chavez ultimately was successful in helping migrant workers, especially Hispanic workers in California, to obtain workplace safety and fair pay. The problem with scholarly silence around people like Chavez and things like the labor movement and unions is that when we don’t learn about these things, we don’t learn how to successfully resist. How to resist unfair laws and corporate behavior is something that most history textbooks don’t spend any time talking about. I believe such silence exists because the dominant, ruling class doesn’t want marginalized people to learn how to resist – to learn that people and unions were extremely successful in stopping corporate greed, low (or no) wages, and unsafe working conditions.
The first of two essay questions focuses on Leo Chavez’s book , “The Latino Threat”. The questions and statements that will be answered include “ What is the Latino threat?, ‘How does he define citizenship?” ,“Identify and discuss two examples of the Latino threat” and “ Identify one policy recommendation and discuss whether you think it is achievable”. Leo Chavez’s book focuses on the guise of Latinos threatening the American way of life. He defines this as “The Latino Threat” , He states that the Latino threat narrative positions Latinos as not sharing similarities with any previous migrant groups into the U.S. and that they are unwilling and incapable of integrating and becoming part of the national community (Chavez,3).
Xitlaly Reyes Professor Warner HIS 106 25 Sept. 2014 Viva La Raza The Chicano Movement, also known by Chicanos as El Movimiento, was a cultural and political movement that raised awareness about the history of Mexicans and/or Chicanos in North America (Ramirez). Chavez examines the assumptions made by the media and the public by drawing in sources like magazine articles and illustrations to provide the audience with exactly how these accusations are made and shared with the public. Chavez questions what it means and what it takes to be considered an American citizen and how Latinos, particularly Mexicans, have many things stacked up against. There are no doubts that the number of undocumented immigrants has steadily increased each year. Leo R. Chavez argues that because of the rise in the numbers, it makes it easier for the media to assume that undocumented immigrants, particularly Mexicans, are a threat to our nation through an invasion. Chavez’s idea of a Mexican reconquest is developed through something he calls the Quebec model.
Did you know that 1 in 5 U.S. kids don’t get the food they need every day? This negatively impacts kids’ health and development, but this can also negatively impact them academically as well as emotionally and socially. No Kid Hungry is an organization that is making a difference regarding this problem. No Kid Hungry was founded by Billy Shore and his sister Debbie Shore in 1984. Since then, No Kid Hungry has raised and invested more than $528 million in the fight against hunger, and has won the support of national leaders in business, government, health and education, sports, and entertainment.
Although the San Joaquin Valley produces millions of dollars of produce a year, many people in the valley are living in poverty. In fact Merced is the top fourth county in California with, unemployment, poverty, child poverty, and food insecurity. Part of the reason is that the youth do not have many programs or resources to keep them in school and occupied. Many of them will not graduate high school, and end up incarcertated, and get pregnant in their teen year. These challenges make it hard for them to move up the economic ladder, and they most likely will remain in poverty.
Therefore, that is why we think that this research work is of important knowledge for a better future. Because of this, that is why they should add a curriculum for the study of finances in the elementary and secondary schools of Miami Dade, Florida. Also, because there is a large majority of Latino children and youth that can be affected in a positive way. Consequently, learn a better management of your money.
Monrovia realizes that they have several competitors within the industry they market in and that is why they work so hard to keep up with them. People can grow plants on their own or run down to their local garden center and choose from an array of plants from different suppliers. Monrovia knows that and uses careful planning to find ways to make their plants stand out among the others. It can be noticed throughout their website that that is exactly their strategy. Monrovia clearly states that their plants are Distinctively Better and that there is not really a reason to purchase plants elsewhere because these plants have everything the customer could ever want.
I will use the tools that I learned from this class along with acquiring other skills to diversify income that will support my organization mission. In addition, discuss specific ways in which you could improve current service delivery methods in your future position to keep pace with trends related to needs of the population. To improve current service delivery methods in my future position to keep up-to-date with the growing trends is to become a member of the National Council of Nonprofits and the Society for Nonprofits.
Now when looking at Hamlet there seems to be this underlying issue with who gets to be king after King Hamlet 1st (using that name for a minute). We assume due to Hamlet’s canon age and that fact he’s the Prince we would assume that he would be king. However that is not entirely true, as Claudius is the past king's brother, and thus would be next for the throne. Assuming the system is like this because the king and Claudius are by both mother and father related, not just the child of a husband and wife.that plus the fact that Claudius came into the picture right after what seems like the King Hamlet 1st’s funeral that could definitely cause household and family tension.
