Living on the island was amazing. There were no adults to tell the boys and me what to do and there were no rules; we were free to do whatever we pleased. I could hunt pigs whenever I wanted and I could swim as much as I wanted. The only negatives about the island were Piggy, Ralph, Simon and a few other boys. To Kill A Mockingbird takes place in the Great Depression era in Alabama, where education was not the best. Teachers would only seek to teach their classes average, everyday lessons rather than valuable life teachings.
When they first landed on the island the boys established a somewhat organized form of government. However as time went on, individuals, ambitious for power, gained leadership through fear. This required them to become heartless and eventually lead them to savagery. Both stories portray the devastating effects the ambition can
From as far back as I can remember, I have always been curious about why people to the things they do. Questioning, thinking, studying people’s behaviors was something that has been a skill of mine since I was old enough to talk. It came as no shock to anyone who knew me that my passion was set in the field of psychology. I started studying psychology my senior year of high school and fully dove into the subject without looking back. I knew in my head that my college career would be focused on studying the one topic that interested me the most.
