Case workers have strong interpersonal skills. They like to enjoy helping others to solve the problems and issues they have in their lives. In hospitals, NGOs, health care centers and institutions, caseworkers provide their assistance to those individuals and people who are at risk. For this, they need to be working under the supervision of a social worker who has the official license.

He then has to provide the most suitable solution to the problem of his client. Post the initial meeting with his client, a caseworker may provide assistance to his client with daily work activities, such as bathing, eating. He may even provide help for community assistance programs; or work with other psychologists or social workers in order to create a case-specific plan.
Since the social case worker meet and interact with people from vast backgrounds, his communication skills should be really good. He must be efficient in taking down the notes that he gathers from his meeting session with his client, must observe and analyze the information that he collects from the client. And then accordingly plan and monitor his client, make his patient independent enough so that he could solve his problems without help from the case worker every time, and make a revised and effective treatment plan. 6. Principle of Self Awareness The foremost duty of the case worker to adopt it as one of his roles is to accept the client. The case worker must accept the client regardless of the client’s color, cast, creed, gender, problem etc. He must understand that the client has come to him for help thereby, the social case worker needs to give respect and dignity to his client no matter what the circumstances or the situation is on both ends of the individuals- the client and the social case worker.

Participation is the key word in the problem-solving process. It means to involve the client in problem-solving task. Worker’s role is to provide so much comfort to his client that he doesn’t hesitate in discussing about the problem. The worker needs to utilize the resources and abilities of the client by making use of the participatory approach from the client. This would help develop good relationship in between the two. Therefore, it’s absolutely up to the social case worker to raise the level of client’s participation.
Despite all this, one of the basic rights of the client is the confidentiality of his information once conveyed to the social case worker. The worker needs to keep the discussion, meeting sessions, conversations, confessions, secrets within him. This helps establish good relationship.
