Most Americans watch tv, some more than others. We all have our preference of shows that we like to watch. They range from cartoons to crime tv. Personally, I like crime tv. Crime tv no matter what it is can sway a persons’ opinion of the offender. The main tv that can sway the public is the news. The news can make people assume a suspect is guilty before the courts determine their guilt or innocence. The media plays a huge role in criminal justice. Peoples lives can be ruined before they are even convicted of the charges. “Their private lives and professional reputation are highly likely to be seriously affected the minute the news is made public, regardless of a later acquittal, which may not come until the Supreme Court decides years after the event.” (Bohlander, 2010). A person can go from a normal everyday citizen that no one has ever heard of to the most hated person in America in the blink of an eye. And its all due to media.
