How would one feel if their favorite all American celebrity that gave them hope during times of oppression, secretly, was more devious than assumed? Such a phenomenon has occurred many times over the years, but the most noteworthy of them involves the unfortunate murder of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. In this case, the primary suspect was Orenthal James Simpson, who was not just an athlete, yet a symbol of resilience that most Americans could feel uplifted by. As such, O.J. Simpson was found innocent in the trial in which he was accused of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman, but this verdict may not have been sound. To begin, the bodies of Nicole Brown Simpson, O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife, and her friend Ronald Goldman were found by Nicole’s next door neighbor June 12, 1994 (Linder). The two were seen stabbed dozens of times and unfortunately discovered by the neighbor far too late. Additionally, the man assumed to be O.J. Simpson was seen entering his house not even an hour after the murders had taken place. Furthermore, when O.J. was told by police that his ex-wife had been killed, “Simpson did not ask how, when, or by whom” nor did he ask any follow up questions of any sort (Linder). After some additional questioning and evidence gathering, O.J. to be guilty, he had become a serious option for the suspect and a warrant was given out for his arrest. Thus, “Simpson was to turn himself in at police headquarters by 10:00 on the morning of June 17, the day following Nicole's funeral” and when this did not happen, went to his home in Brentwood to pick him up, yet to no avail as he was not on the premises.
