Anasazi city Anasazi Tribe Owen Riordan, Period 6 Social Studies The Anasazi were a tribe of ancient people whose civilization existed for more than 1,000 years and was in existence during the time Jesus Christ was alive. Their culture was important to the development of several later tribes from the area of the Four Corners (Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona) in the modern United States. This paper will examine how they lived, their scientific investigations, their artwork, and their legacy.

Shanawdithit was the last known survivor of the Beothuk from Newfoundland. As a child, she witnessed several encounters between the Beothuk and the British. Shanawdithit was born in Newfoundland in 1801, the same time the Beothuk population began to dwindle. They suffered the assimilation of their way of culture caused by encroaching British settlements, diseases they had no immunity to, and diminishing access to the sea, a main resource for food. The Beothuk had avoided the British for a very long time and British trappers regarded the Beothuk as thieves and sometimes attacked them.
the mountain massacre The mountain meadows massacre was the killing of roughly 120 emigrants who were passing through southern utah in september 1857. the emigrant men,women,and children were traveling from Arkansas to california,part of the baker fancher wagon train.they were killed by a group of mormon with the help of local Paiute Indians. the mountain meadow massacre is located in a mountain valley about 35 miles south west of cedar city ,utah. After leaving Arkansas,the fancher party traveled west Nebraska territory before entering utah territory.
The Catawba was a group of indians that lived on the border of North Carolina near Rock Hill, South Carolina. They called themselves the “river people” because they knew how to live around the water and how to use it to make their lives easier. They also used palisades for protection and traded to get more advanced weapons. Their homes were built out of saplings, grass and reed mats, and bark. They elected a official to make rules for their villages.
By the mid-eighteenth century, tensions between the Native American tribes and English settlers had mounted to an all time high. Mistrust was frequent, as was betrayal. Fighting could break out in a minute, and then be finished the next. Political relationships were broken because of a war and massacre; the economy boomed because of barbaric markets & fur trade. Yet, a lasting effect took place after a war and fruit picking that shattered relations with the tribes for years to come.

This riot escalated into a violent massacre that slaughtered many African Americans as well as Caucasians and lead to the demise of the entire town that had been established. This event became to be known as one several race riots that occurred in the United States of America during the early twentieth century. The events prior to the Rosewood Massacre, including the origins of the town, the massacre itself and the issues and events that were sub sequential to this catastrophic event all played a major role in the history of African Americans.
