A concussion is a mild form of traumatic brain injury (TBI) caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head. A concussion can also be caused by violent movement or jarring of the head or neck.Normally people who suffer from concussions generally fully recover quickly. However, in some cases, symptoms can last for days or weeks.Concussions are severely dangerous to the youth athletes. There are many sports that cause Concussions. According to “Meet the press” girls are more likely to get concussions from Lacrosse,Soccer and for boys there is soccer, Football, Lacrosse and it also mentions how girls are more likely to get concussions than boys do to the different hormonal levels and girls have smaller necks and can not take as much impact than boys. For about 9 in 10 people with concussions, symptoms disappear within 7 to 10 days.In the US, athletes suffer from roughly 300,000 concussions every year .when an athlete receives a concussion it does not only affect them in practice but also in class at school. Many students struggle in class work from concussions and other brain injuries during school. There are long term effects of having concussions that are Dementia, memory loss, headaches, blurry vision, but some long term effects could mean Cronic Tramatic Encpololopthy (CTE) which is a desies that cannot be diagnosed until after death even though athletes could be living with signs and symptom of the disease...however people may not show any symptoms even though they may still have it. Some people suffer from 2nd impact syndrome which is rare and fadel and only happens to people 23 and younger. With that syndrome you have to relearn motor skills as in eating, walking, talking.
