It has come to everyone 's attention that the woman, Hester Prynne, is now permitted to have custody of her child, Pearl. While some have accepted this outcome, many do not think the choice is right. If Hester Prynne is a sinner that truly wishes to repent, then should she be permitted to keep the object of her sins? It also begs the question if Hester should be permitted to care for another immortal soul? Even though Governor Willingham stated "Without question, she is equally in the dark as to her soul."
