World War 2 started when Germany invaded Poland September 1, 1939. Hitler led Germany to claim land from Poland for more Germany controlled land. Germany used tactics called Blitz Kreig where you attack fast, catching the enemy off guard. September 17, 1939 the Soviet Union invaded Poland and drove back German troops. The Soviet Union was led by Vyacheslav Molotov leading the charge to control Poland's east side. This makes it easier for the U.S. to fight Germany. On December 7, 1941 Japan bombed Pearl Harbor using the same tactic as Germany. This event causes the U.S. to take part in WW2. June 6, 1944 was called D-day. It stood for doomsday because that was the day the U.S. attacked the coast of Poland to fight German troops. Another event that occurred during WW2 was the Tuskegee Airmen. They were the first all black Air Force squad. They had the best battle records against any of the other squads. They were doubted to fly but their records stood for itself. They escorted bomber planes to Germany. Without the Red Tails we probably would've lost WW2. February 19, 1945 occurred the Battle of Iwo Jima. This battle was the conflict between the U.S. and Japan. U.S. attacked by sea coming from the island.
