“Give th’ edge o’ th’ sword His Wife, his babes, and all unfortunate souls That Trace him in his line.” (IV, i, 171-174) Madness took the mind of Macbeth, it brought him to a level above insanity that would cause nothing but pain and suffering for him and the people around him. Insanity is the corruption of the mind, and in The Tragedy of Macbeth it shows the true sight of insanity and the fact of MacBeth's sickness, is that his curse of madness and urge for power was the one thing that broke him from the last little bit of humanity left in himself. The Tragedy of MacBeth truly represents how the guilt of an action can truly bring insanity.

But since she was a major role in the murder, she had a lot of demons that came with her actions. Because of her guilt she started to sleepwalk and have hallucinations from the night of the murder. “Out damned spot, out, I say!” (V, i, 37) As someone who has slept walk before, I know that the causes of sleepwalking is from stress, a dramatic experience, or from an illness, and in Lady MacBeths cause she suffered from all three of those things. “One. Two. Why then, ‘tis time to do’t. Hell is murky. Fie, my lord, fie, a soldier and afeared? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? Yet who would have thought the old man to have so much blood in him?” (V, i, 37-42) Lady MacBeth knew what true insanity was like, she saw blood on her spotless hands. Her mind was lost, she knew what she has done and the only way that her mind can come back to a state of security is upon her own death, which will finally release the demons inside of her mind. He had no remorse for his people and he was dedicated to take out anybody in the way of him and his quest to gain power. “Blood hath been shed ere now, i’th olden time, Ere humane statue purged the gentile weal; Ay, and since too, murders have been performed Too terrible for the ear.” (III, iiii, 91-94) Murder became a regular action for MacBeth and his guilt was not being represented anymore. Guilt was the last reminder of humanity left in MacBeth, but now that this link has been destroyed there is no more humanity left, and his demons from his guilt has won. MacBeth has lost the battle with his own mind and there is no return for him, there is only an end. “The Time has been That, when the brains were out, the man would die, and There an end.” (III, iiii, 94-96) MacBeth knew that there is no restart, he knew that there is only an end. He has been defeated by his own insanity and he was ready to accept his own demise. And this curse that has been put on MacBeth, and all of Scotland, until he was put out of his misery. When MacDuff killed MacBeth he lifted the curse, and he gave MacBeth the freedom from his own mind. The grief defeated MacBeth and it was a losing battle, and until MacBeth was finally killed, he was stuck in his own head suffering, waiting for someone to free him from this torturous
