Cell Chapter Review for Test
Lesson 1
LOD Cell: the smallest unit of a living thing that can carry out basic processes of life
N: All living things have cells
N: cells have structures called organelles
LOD organelles: they work together to perform the basic processes of life
N: plants and animals have different kinds of organelles to help them survive
N: animals cells need to be more flexible so the animal can move around and they don’t have special organelles to produce their own food so they need to find their own food
Animal cell organelles

LOD Cell membrane: The cell membrane is semipermeable because it only let’s in what needs came in and only lets out what can be let out. It is kinda like the skin of a cell
LOD Cytoplasm: The cytoplasm …show more content…

It tells the other organelles what to do
LOD Mitochondria: The Mitochondria breaks down food and turns it into food for the cell. The more energy a cell has the more Mitochondria it needs
N: Mitochondria are in sacs
LOD Vacuoles: Vacuoles store water food and waste. An animal cell has many small vacuoles
Plant Cell
N: A plant cell has all the same organelles as an animal cell and a few more
LOD Cell wall: A cell wall can let in and out stuff, but it’s main purpose is to provide extra support it is a made out of a sugar
LOD Vacuole: A plant cell has only one large vacuole that stores water. if the vacuole starts to run out of water and turn brown and wilt
LOD Chloroplasts: A chloroplast is what turns the sun energy into food this is what makes the plant green
Lesson 2
LOD Unicellular organisms: Organisms that can carry out all the processes of life with only one cell ex: diatoms
LOD Organism: An organism is an individual living …show more content…

N: Vascular plants grow very tall because they came move around food through their vascular tissue wherever water or food needs to go ex: trees bushes grasses and cacti
N: If you would to look at a piece of moss under a microscope you would see that the cells look very much alike This is because moss is a nonvascular plant which means it does not have tubes inside of its stem or leaves
LOD Nonvascular: A plant that does not have any vascular tissue inside of it
N: This makes nonvascular plants to grow very tall
LOD Fungus: Fungus, or plural form fungi, can be a unicellular or a multicellular organism
N: Fungi cannot make their own food, so instead they absorb dead or decaying organisms in their environment
Bacteria
LOD Bacteria: Bacteria are tiny unicellular organism that consist of only a cell membrane and a cytoplasm
N: Most bacteria have cell walls but they do not have a distinct nucleus while plant and animal cells do
N: Bacteria are classified into two different kingdom called “ancient” bacteria and “true” bacteria
N: Ancient bacteria are the oldest living organisms on the face of the earth
N: many of them are found in harsh environments like hot springs, salt water, and acidic environments
N: True bacteria usually are in or on some other organism
