Whereas stimulants have psychological and physiological effects having the effect of increasing one’s ability to pay attention but also raises the heart rate and blood pressure (Gaines & Kremling, 2014; The National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2017). Opioids are then used to relieve pain but can cause constipation and sleepiness as well as a long list of other short-term effects (The National Institute on Drug Abuse, 2017). Now as you can see, each drug has its side effects these side effects can easily worsen when prescription drugs are misused. Methods of improper use could be taking

The exciting part of this project is that each phase has the potential to impact and improve patient care independent of the other phases. The primary goal for this project is to make a difference in the lives of our patients through innovation and improved
“Small amounts of methamphetamine can result in many of the same physical effects… these include increased wakefulness, increased physical activity, decreased appetite, increased respiration, rapid heart rate, irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, and increased body temperature.” Since methamphetamine is a stimulant drug, it does in fact harm the brain in a negative way also. The drug can cause a person to be awake at a time people will typically sleep. We all would like to forget something but is not as simple as that shapes your existence. In “The Attic of the Brain” by Lewis Thomas talks about how humans want to control every aspect of the brain. He states “There is no delusion more damaging than to get the idea in your head that you understand the functioning of your own brain.” Essentially is only a delusion humans have and can never hope to achieve and only will hurt us, while this may be true or not who’s to say. He also talks about how we may want to “to take charge, guiding your thoughts”, like to repress some our memories like in a “trapdoor”.
Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a non-invasive tool for the electrical stimulation of neural tissue, including cerebral cortex, spinal roots, and cranial and peripheral nerves. TMS can be applied as single pulses of stimulation, pairs of stimuli separated by variable intervals to the same or different brain areas, or as trains of repetitive stimuli at various frequencies. Single stimuli can depolarise neurons and evoke measurable effects. Trains of stimuli (repetitive TMS) can modify excitability of the cerebral cortex at the stimulated site and also at remote areas along functional anatomical connections. Transcranial magnetic stimulation might provide novel insights into the pathophysiology of the neural circuitry underlying neurological and psychiatric disorders, be developed into

I took a step back for this assignment of identifying my culture to assess my life as an outsider I found many cultural aspects apply but I’ll touch on just a few. Most of my social norms, values and traditions are pretty typical for my background. I have genealogy tracing back all over Europe and my parents were raised in Nebraska and Ohio. So, as you can imagine their small town social norms, values and traditions followed them into the big city while they raised two daughters. My sister and I grew up with a lutheran mother and a previously catholic father.
Nervous Conditions is a partially autobiographical novel by Zimbabwean author Tsitsi Dangarembga that takes place in Rhodesia in the late 1960s and early 1970s. It focuses on the themes of race, class, and gender through the eyes of Tambu, the young female protagonist. The title references Jean Paul Sartre 's introduction to Frantz Fanon 's 1963 book The Wretched of the Earth, in which he writes, "the status of 'native ' is a nervous condition introduced and maintained by the settler among the colonized people with their consent. " Dangarembga expands Fanon 's exploration of African people oppressed by a colonial regime by incorporating the gender-specific role of black women, who are arguably doubly oppressed. The women in Dangarembga 's novel grapple with "nervous conditions" borne from years of colonialism as well as the continued oppression under the Shona power system.
