Theme is central to many stories. In the story Macbeth, Shakespeare uses countless themes to convey his message and let the reader become engaged with the story. One of the main themes is unchecked ambition. This theme plays a central role in the story and can be used to explain how theme is central in any story. It tells the reader that Macbeth is ambitious enough to the point to kill his King Duncan who is in his home in "double trust." The theme also tells us that this what the story is about. What the driving force is in the story. It is more interesting to know the theme than to simply say what the story covers.Themes can also be a meaning of life or a life lesson.
