I am going to examine the book named ‘’Ceremony’’ in my essay. This is a book which belongs to Leslie Marmon Silko. She is a Native American novelist that she tells everything in her short novel. I will try to analyze and make comments about this wonderful novel. It tells us a man’s story who turn back his city named Laguna Pueblo after WWII. Ceremony is related to his life which combines with poems.
I will start with make a summary of book; Tayo is our main character. War make some mental problems and traumas to Tayo after his uncle’s Josia’s and cousin’s death. He stayed at Veterans hospital for a time after that he came back his city. He starts to be good after he saw his old friends and some family members around himself. But he didn’t forget his traumas. Also his mother abandoned him when he was four years old. While his friends talking about their uniforms how suit them at war, he feels only anger. He thinks to go back to the VA. Hospital but grandma calls medicine man and he said to Tayo that he will make a new ceremony for warriors who dead during war. But Tayo …show more content…

Staying in Veterans hospital felt better to him but he didn’t heal enough. He got better with nature and his traditions. We can easily see that Pueblo’s people have a strong connection with nature. Generally natives had a strong connection with nature. They had special power above both plants animals. All these ones presented through whole novel. In the last lines of ceremony shows us that Emo killed Pinkie but FBI says that this was a misunderstood and mistake. However, grandma’s situation spreads the whole novel as symbolic. This shows us the Laguna’s legendary on nature cycle. World seem as a changeable thing, new repeats and connections are the only point that both past and future connected. Grandma’s saying doesn’t told us the complexity of history it shows how world works in
