For example, Colleen E. Kelle uses pentadic criticism to analyze former U.S. Congressman George Hansen of Idaho rhetorical decisions made that led to two situations. The first pentad for Kelle was George Hansen's felony conviction in April of 1984. Kelle states, “An agent-purpose ratio dominated this pentadic justification of Hansen's conviction because of a selfish desire for personal gain. Hansen lied about his financial dealings; i.e., flaws in the character of Hansen as agent resulted in selfish goals and illegal actions” (Kelle 206). The second pentadic analysis deals with George Hansen reelection bid.
Based on Walter’s scenario, my decision, which is mostly driven by the first two themes presented in the article, would be to compose a referral to place him on the waitlist of a particular facility. Basically, the first theme explains the separation of competent from incompetent and determining whether a client is competent or not. Although Walter is oriented and able to communicate, I have deemed him incompetent due to various reasons. For instance, he is incapable of performing proper hygiene since he does not appear well-groomed and he is also incapable of maintaining a suitable environment since his house is filled with clothing, newspapers, spoiled products, unwashed dishes, as well as the unpleasant scents of cat deposits. The overall message Dara Grumdahl is revealing to her readers is that todays society has become more preoccupied by trends, materials, and not so much of what is real. . She says, for example, that Americans once ate hundreds more apples during the season years ago than we do today showcasing just one thing we slowly hve forgotten. Flavors of foods such as these apples, polenta, shellfish, hops, sweet corn, and brie will never be advertised on a digital screen in an everyday coffee shop during the fall, but they are what is real about the season. Fall is agreeably much more than a cozy drink, it is filled with foods, events, colors, and more that you truly can not just buy in a drive through,or
The whole concept of Nick Sousanis 's comic "Unflattening" pertains to how one can see different things and read the social world. While the social world of mankind is shaped based on the choices our ancestors made, do social patterns and behaviors really have to be a certain way? Perhaps, there is a flatness not yet scene that allows for this blinded vision and machine like operation which does not question repetition. A main focal point being stressed. Essentially, a main point Sousanis wants us to note is this: (1) change our perception in things, (2) changed perception creates a change in action, thus (3) a change to the world.

Samuel Seium. I have been generally satisfied with the content in class, books, and articles. However, I believe that in order to explain racism to a group of people who might not notice it or believe that it exist would need the historical context to it. I noticed that these books or articles left out how America got to that point to beginning with, which can possibly leave some people confused about racism and how it works. For example, the Helm’s book talked about White people as a whole but left out the fact about when Italians, Polish, Greeks, and germans became classified as White and why.
It is an imperative matter that we take a look at the impact of Title IX on sports as well as why it should be viewed from a multidimensional perspective. Women’s opportunities for competitive physical activity were restricted in America up until Federal Legislation, commonly referred to as Title IX, which later became law. It required American society to recognize a woman’s right to participate in sports on a plane equivalent to that of men. Prior to 1870, activities for women were recreational rather than sport-specific in nature. They were informal, noncompetitive, rule-less; they emphasized physical activity rather than competition.

Szymborska depicts human existence as insignificant when compared to the massive scale of the universe in her poem, “Microcosmos”. The title, “Microcosmos”, is itself an oxymoron which describes how learning about bacteria enlarged human’s understanding of their small place in the universe. Functionalist theory generally leads to the conclusion that sports is well known in society, because they maintain the mores and values that keeps the stability and order in everyday life.
